Lucas Moura Signs New Contract With Spurs Till 2024
Champions League Heroics
If there’s a defining moment in a player’s career, this was it. Seemingly down and out against Ajax in just 35 minutes in the second leg, Lucas Moura then saved the day. His hattrick was sublime, each goal beautifully executed. It was then disappointing that the hero did not start in the Champions League final. Instead, he entered the match as a sub in the 66th minute but could not help his team perform another miracle.
It was sensational for a player to step up in such a way. Moura had shown glimpses of quality in his early Spurs days. However, with Harry Kane absent, Moura took the goalscoring burden on his back with real aplomb.
A Glimmering Future Beckons
Whilst Moura eventually fell out of favour at PSG, he is really starting to make his name at Spurs. Indeed, he clearly isn’t quite on Kane’s level yet, but if he can build on his previous performances he will surely achieve something great with this club.
In pre-season he has played well, looking sharp. As before, he is so dangerous with the ball at his feet. And, he found the net with a fantastic finish against Inter Milan. This bodes well with the new season starting tomorrow. He will surely get a start against Aston Villa, especially with Son Heung-Min’s absence.
Spurs used to have an issue with worrying about their source of goals. Kane is still a large contributor to that tally. However, Moura is the latest player to step up for the club. Last season he scored 15 goals in 49 appearances, including 12 appearances from the bench. This is a good target to hit and transcend this season.
